Ken's Story

Owner

My family moved to Charleston in 2000 to Johns Island where my father and his partner opened a Jason's Deli franchise together. He departed to open his own business in the auto insurance niche, Coastal Auto Insurance. He peaked with 3 locations and sold to a gentleman to start his last endeavor, the Yard Caddy. Unfortunately, cancer took him in 2016.

That same year, I graduated from Wando High. I spent a year at Auburn University and two in both Atlanta and Athens, GA before deciding it was my time to join the horticulture industry.

I joined WWOOF and spent the next few years traveling and working on various farms across the country before returning to Charleston in the summer of 2020.

Born in the Lowcountry, Fry Farms was created in 2023 to bring healthy and natural nutrition to my friends, family, and neighbors. I strive to use only local, natural, and organic ingredients when available. We utilize our wonderful seasonal harvests here in the Low-country by either dehydrating, pickling, fermenting, or juicing a variety of produce. All our provisions come from simple recipes with only a handful of natural ingredients so you can be sure that your next meal is both nutritious and delicious!

Fry Farms currently offers a Microgreens CSA package, and with your continued support we hope to expand our selection of microgreens, herbs, and edible flowers.

ABOUT FRY FARMS

Gardening

Our Philosophy

Quality ingredients make a quality product.

We only use simple, high-quality ingredients to grow our microgreens, herbs, and edible flowers. Happy Frog potting soil and organic coco coir are our grow median. We water with filtered water that adds in Potassium, Calcium, and Magnesium. We use certified organic Johnny's Select seeds, Seed's Savers Exchange, and Baker's Creek Seeds.

We hope we will be able to grow and supply all our own seed and turn most of our compost back into grow media with your support.
